Took a vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Nice, very nice. Warm and humid the whole time. My body really does like a bit of humidity.
Got engaged there too. Yippee! |

Wow, I haven't posted in awhile.
Got out of the UK safe and sound. Had a reasonable trip, but nothing too "out there" to really talk about.
Have a new housemate and we're getting along very well. I'm lucky to have found a person that I can love and who loves me.
Work is .... well, it's work. What more can I say about that.
Guess that's really it. Nothing really "new" to report. Just gettin' on with life a bit. :-) |

| [ | mood |
| | cranky | ] | Good News: I got my car back! Bad News: It cost a good amount of money for them to tow/store it (and they were bastards)
Good news: They're gonna fix my car, including recoding the keys in case the bastards took a copy of the key. Bad news: I really wanted them to just total it out and be done with it.
Good news: I learned a VERY important thing about car insurance, and that's have all your upgrades to things inspected and "endorsed" by your agent. Bad news: I found that out when they said "we'll replace the deck in the dashboard, but not the stuff in the trunk". The stuff in the trunk included my CD changer, 2 amps, and the subs. So basically 90% of my stereo was "in the trunk" and basically not covered. F*** all.
Good news: maybe I can get a decent trade-in on it once it's fixed and be rid of it. Bad news: that means I'm buying another car and have payments again.
I really, honestly wish they'd just thrashed the car. Supposedly the front tire is a wee bit nearly flat right now... so maybe they actually ran into something like a curb and jacked up the frame or suspension and it will cost enough to total out. My luck: Nope.
It's enough to make a grown Grapple cry. And all the time in the UK and I still don't have a decent accent. |

| [ | mood |
| | angry | ] | I don't know if I should post this in the open or not... but this morning I came in to the office (over in UK again) to a message of "call me at your home number, I know it will be 1 in the morning". The person watching my house had the wonderful news to share that my house had been broken into over the holiday weekend back home. Stole my car, my computer, my stereo, and all the CD's/DVD's they could apparently see. My car is fairly obvious, so I'm sure they'll find that. The computer is most likely a loss, as is the stereo (some cheap $60 thing I had *just* bought though!). The CD's etc is a real heartbreaker. That was a lot of stuff I'd been collecting up over the years. I hope those bastards like Japanese music. That's my only saving joy.
So, locks have been changed, police reports filed. I need to call the officer this morning, along with the insurance agent. What a mess. And I'm scheduled to be over here for another 7 weeks or so. Might have to end that a bit ahead of schedule...
I hope they at least change the oil in my car before they drive it into an embankment or chop it up for parts. I'd been meaning to do that.
And no one was in the house and got hurt or anything. That's good too. Just some stuff that can be replaced is gone. And it probably needed to be gotten rid of anyway. Blah. |

| | mellow | ] | Life's been moving fairly frantically as I try to get my work caught up.
Oh yeah, going back to the U.K. next week for a 2 month stay. Expect very little to be said here probably, as I'll be spending most of my time either working or touring a sight or two this time.
Just have to get someone to come mow my lawn now.... :-( |

Oh yeah... I made it home safe and sound from the UK. Had to mow my lawn. Forgot to call my mom and let her know. Did remember to call and wish my grandmother a happy birthday though.
Now I just have to wait and see if I have to go back. According to my boss (who just wandered by on the way to the restroom): "I want to send this Greg back and get the one I sent over to come back." See, I had blue hair when I left and a much more "reasonable" reddish brown going on now... Seems he misses the blue hair too. |

| Best Alarm Clock ever |
[Apr. 21st, 2007|09:51 am] |
So, after about 3 weeks in this hotel, I finally get to experience a fire alarm. People over here seem fairly neurotic about fires in the building anyway, but....
To have that miserable thing blast off at 8 am on a Saturday... not funny at all. Although seeing everyone outside in their jackets and bad hair, that was a bit funny....
Seems it was a false alarm, and then they allowed us back in pretty quick. Alarms are still going off in my wing of the building though. Apparently someone hit one of the alarmed pushbars on a door. and then they did it again. So I had like a half hour of screaming alarms in my room. Bleh. |

| Happy Birthday to me.... |
[Apr. 8th, 2007|10:24 am] |
Yep.... I'm officially 35 years old today. Yay *blows slide whistle*
I'm still in the UK, still having a bit of a challenge adjusting to wrong side of road, wrong side of car, funny money, etc etc.
Still need to figure out why I'm even over here, since the "work" really seems to be handling itself and what they really seem to need is just training. LOTS of training. But they also do things so radically different in some cases that *I* also need a bit of training.
They keep joking about stealing my passport and "why don't you just plan to spend the 6 months over here". Okay... I have a feeling that all the people who seem to rely on me so much at work might stage a mutiny back in Colorado, plus someone would have to pay my mortgage while I'm gone... It would be a real burden on me to just drop over here for half a year.
I'm being taken to lunch today by the manager of the Center (Centre, whatever) over here. He's coming over on his holiday Easter Sunday to take a crazy Yank out to lunch. That actually says a lot to me, really. They also got me a card and everyone signed it, although most of them really don't even know me yet. That touched me. I now owe these folks any help I can give them, because they've shown that they're actually nice people.... dammit.
They picked a fun week for me to come over anyway. I basically got 4 working days in, then holiday Friday ("bank holiday") for Good Friday and holiday Monday for Easter Monday. I'm only here a month, and two of the working days are holidays. Whoops.
I finally found some of the shopping areas. I can't wait to find them open on non-holidays so I can secure some gifts for my "kids" back at the home office. I'm sure they'll want Daddy to bring them something when he gets back from his trip. Such a burden to have work family. :)
Guess that's it. I've forgotten how absolutely miserable slow a dial-up connection can be, but that's the only way I can get out of this stupid hotel room. Wireless connection is only in the "common" areas, so I'd have to go sit in the pub.... High speed in the room seems to be dead as well. Good thing I'm not footing this bill. I'm worth the phone call to the company though. They can suck it up.
I'll try to update again later. I'm watching my email though, so that might be the better way to reach me during April. Have fun everyone and see you when I get back.
p.s. the Blue hair is a huge hit over here. :) |

Awww... Colorado didn't want me to forget about it while I was gone, so it's SNOWING today. Stupid "weather".
I'm all packed and can hardly wait for my... NINE hour flight. Good thing I have a brand new book to read on the trip. |

I leave tomorrow (Thursday) at 8:15. I'll be lucky to sleep at this point. Finally seem to have caught up my work, JUST in time....
I still need to pack, but I'll take care of that tonight. Need to do a quick load of laundry. Seems I'll be living in a hotel for a month. :( |
